The latest COVID-19 data from the state health department shows cases in Arizona are staying relatively low. The Arizona Department of Health Services added 2,350 cases and 99 deaths to its COVID-19 dashboard in its weekly update Wednesday.

The state data suggests Arizona is averaging about 335 cases per day recently, which is the lowest average the state has seen since May 2020. The percentage of COVID-19 tests turning up positive in Arizona does appear to be rising, though. The health department reports the state’s positivity rate is now about 5%, up from just 3% a few weeks ago.

The department is no longer providing details about the number of COVID-19 patients in Arizona's hospitals. But data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows hospitalizations are staying low. The CDC reports COVID-19 patients now occupy just about 1% of inpatient and intensive care unit beds in Maricopa County, and new admissions continue to trend down.
