The Scottsdale Unified School District serves about 23,000 students.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office has filed a lawsuit against the Scottsdale Unified School District over an alleged open-meetings law violation.

The suit says the board restricted public comments during a meeting last August.

In addition to imposing civil penalties on the board, it seeks to ensure that no further violations occur and to have board member Jann-Michael Greenburg removed.

Greenburg was the board’s president at the time of the alleged violations. The school board said it does not comment on pending litigation but maintains that it complied with the law.
