Gaby Moreno is one of those rare stories of people who grew up with a dream and then lived it.

She grew up in Guatemala dreaming of coming to the United States to pursue a career in music. At age 18, she moved to Los Angeles with a record deal and a spot at music school.

Since, she has won a Latin Grammy, been nominated for a Grammy and an Emmy and shared the stage with everyone from Bono and Buena Vista Social Club to Ani DiFranco and Calexico.

Moreno writes and performs in both Spanish and English and is a truly genre-bending artist, pulling influences from bolero to blues, from soul and funk.

She’s coming to Arizona this weekend on tour with Los Lobos at the Chandler Center for the Arts. The Show got the chance to talk with her ahead of the Show.
