Four members of Arizona’s congressional delegation expect Davis-Monthan Air Force Base to lose few, if any, military and civilian jobs over the next five years.

Their recent letter to the U.S. Air Force secretary also talks of new, unspecified flying missions planned for the aviation hub near Tucson.

The letter was signed by a bipartisan group consisting of both Arizona senators and a pair of congressmen.

The letter says that the quartet recently learned of the Air Force’s five-year plan for Davis-Monthan. This roadmap reportedly has an ambitious transition timeline via facility reviews, construction and new flying missions described only as durable and enduring.

The federal lawmakers want the military to brief local elected officials on their plan for Davis-Monthan.

A 2017 state-commissioned study measured the base’s yearly economic impact at roughly $2.6 billion.
