The effort to override a gubernatorial veto for the first time since 1981 failed Monday at the state Capitol. House Republicans could not muster the two-thirds majority needed to override Gov. Katie Hobbs' veto of the so-called “tamale bill.”
The measure would have expanded the kinds of foods that could be sold that were prepared in home kitchens. Some Democrats did vote to override the veto — but not enough, as the effort fell five votes shy.
