Gov. Hobbs to meet with Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples Task Force
The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples Task Force will meet for the first time on Monday. Gov. Katie Hobbs established the group in March to address concerns associated with violence against Indigenous Peoples.
The task force is expected to report its activities to the governor and recommend administrative or legislative action be taken each year by December. Hobbs said recommendations from the force must become “meaningful reforms” that lead to justice.
The task force will include members from the tribes and the state government. Theresa Hatathlie, who serves as the chair of the task force, said she will work with the governor to address the tragedy involving missing and murdered Native Americans.
