Mayes says she has no plans to prosecute any abortions
Attorney General Kris Mayes says she will not prosecute any doctor who performs abortion procedures.
Last month, Gov. Katie Hobbs issued an executive order that gives the power to do so solely to Mayes.
That means no county attorney will be able to bring cases regarding abortions and other reproductive health care to court.
Mayes says it was a collaborative measure with the governor.
"The supervisory authority of the Attorney General's Office is rarely invoked. And I think this is one of those instances where it was very appropriate and necessary," Mayes said.
The Arizona Supreme Court is hearing a challenge on the order.
