Grand Canyon National Park is receiving millions of dollars to replace its aging bus fleet.

The national park was awarded $27.5 million for its fleet replacement project. It includes 30 new buses, including 10 electric buses and 20 that run off compressed natural gas. The park’s fleet carries about 5 million passengers every year.

"This funding today will help generations to come continue to enjoy it the way generations of Americans already have," said Shailen Bhatt, the U.S. Federal Highway administrator who visited Grand Canyon National Park on Thursday.

Six other projects are also receiving funding, including in Montana, North Carolina, Nevada, Virginia and Utah.

Officials announced $130 million in funding for significant projects on both federal and tribal lands.
