The U.S. government wants to hear from you about a proposal to build up to three wildlife crossings across two national forests in northern Arizona.
The ultimate goal of the crossings is to provide safe passage for wildlife and reduce vehicle collisions across interstates 17 and 40 through the Coconino and Kaibab national forests.
Construction of each crossing would take about half a year, and officials said they anticipate the crossings would be built within existing highway easements but also include an additional 18 acres each of national forest lands for construction and maintenance.
