Over the past week, the statewide average price for a gallon of regular gas increased by 6 cents to $3.88.

AAA Arizona spokesperson Julian Paredes said another bump in crude oil prices has contributed to higher prices here and around the country.

Paredes suggested the blistering heat in the region comes with an upside.

“Demand is a little bit lower in Arizona than it is across the country just because of the extreme heat. So, fewer people are driving. There’s less demand for gas, but gas prices are still going up a little bit,” said Paredes.

The cheapest average price per gallon in the state is in Graham County at $3.47 and the most expensive is in Maricopa County at $3.98.
