Aug. 18: Recall is lifted

An Arizona marijuana establishment and the state Department of Health Services are lifting the recall of a specific product. It’s one of two marijuana-related recalls this month.

In a statement, the department said follow-up testing of Cloud 9 grape-flavored gummies showed they were free of contaminants. It added that this specific product is safe for consumption, and no illnesses have been reported.

Aug. 8: Voluntary recall on gummies

An Arizona marijuana establishment is voluntarily recalling a specific product due to possible contamination of salmonella, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services.

This is the second marijuana contamination reported in less than two weeks.

The product to look for is the Grape Cloud 9 Gummies 100mg batch number C9G04102023. Some of them tested positive for salmonella, a bacteria that can cause diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps.

No related illnesses have been reported yet, but consumers are advised to dispose of the gummies if they’ve already purchased them.

In late July, DHS issued another recall for different marijuana products for a potential Aspergillus contamination. That fungus can cause a range of symptoms like fevers and chest pain.

Both were discovered during routine inspections, and the distributors worked quickly to remove the products from store shelves.
