Journalist and author Darrell Hartman tells the story of two Arctic explorers, and the two rival New York City newspapers that backed them, in his book, "Battle of Ink and Ice: A Sensational Story of News Barons, North Pole Explorers and the Making of Modern Media."
The Show spoke with Hartman earlier and the conversation started with setting the scene: What was the newspaper landscape like at the time, especially in New York City, and at the North Pole, where these explorers were looking to explore?
