Arizona Republicans will vote as normal in next year’s presidential preference election.

The Arizona GOP rejected a demand from Maricopa County Republicans to back out of the state-run primary.

Friday was the deadline to let Secretary of State Adrian Fontes know if the Republican Party would not be participating in the Arizona-managed election.

The day-of decision by party chair Jeff DeWit means Republicans can use mail-in and early voting in the March 2024 primary.

Last weekend, the Maricopa County Republican Committee passed a resolution demanding the state party to run its own election, which would be held on one day, in person, using paper ballots.

DeWit said there wasn’t enough time to gather enough of the state party’s executive committee to vote on the Maricopa County GOP’s plan, and the proposal would cost more than $10 million.
