The ninth annual Jerome Indie Film & Music Festival opens Thursday.

Entertainment will continue to be offered in a variety of unique venues, according to Jason Ryan, managing director of the festival, who spoke about it recently on PBS’s “Arizona Horizon.”

“We show films on a moving train which, to all our knowledge, is the only film festival in the world that does that. It’s the Verde Canyon Railroad. It’s a four hour trip and it’s the highlight of our festival,” he said.

Films will also be screened in a gold mine which is purportedly haunted.

The festival runs from Sept. 7-10.
