Will this summer ever end?

Many Phoenix residents are probably still asking themselves that question, even though Saturday is technically the first day of fall.

The Valley saw record-setting heat for most of the summer, which officially started June 21. It was especially toasty in July, when for the first time Phoenix — or any major U.S. city — had a monthly average temperature above 100 degrees. Temperatures soared to 110+ degrees for a record 31 straight days from June 30 to July 30.

And while the intense heat has let up for the most part, Valley residents can still expect a couple of triple-digit days early next week, according to the National Weather Service.

Here's a look back at exactly how hot it was every day during summer 2023.
