Hobbs announces $10 million for Nogales police after migrant street releases
Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs announced Thursday that the Nogales Police Department would receive a $10 million grant to obtain communications technology for border security.
The announcement comes after Customs and Border Protection reassigned 50 personnel from Arizona’s five ports of entry to help with efforts in streamlining incoming migrants.
According to the Governor’s Office, the shift caused migrants to be released into border communities. Hobbs previously requested action from the federal government after the Biden administration started the street releases.
She said Arizona should not lose support at its ports of entry and called on the federal government to do its job.
