Arizona State University recently announced a national organization that supports Latinx poetry will be housed at its Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing.

It’s called CantoMundo and is led by professor Jacqueline Balderrama who said, "The name ‘CantoMundo’ translates to ‘Song World,’ and the idea here is that it celebrates the diverse voices of Latinx communities from one generation of writers to the next."

The organization was founded in 2009, and Balderrama said she’s working to plan future programming, including workshops, seminars, retreats, mentorship and professional development with an eye on, “bringing new poetry and voices to the community,” according to a separate release.
