Arizona’s largest pickleball facility is being planned on an 11-acre site at the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.

Pure Pickleball is partnering with Scottsdale-based Caliber Companies to develop 28 indoor courts that can live stream matches and a championship court with a 500 seat stadium for televised matches. The first phase, expected to open late 2024, will also include locker rooms, a café and private event spaces.

Additional phases include outdoor and rooftop courts, a member clubhouse, full gym and child-care.

“The demand for pickleball continues to exceed all expectations,” Brian Snider, senior vice president for Caliber, said in a press release. “We see opportunity for growth in this concept nationwide.”

USA Pickleball, the sport’s national governing body, will also join the venue, according to a press release.

“At this time, we are announcing PURE Pickleball is our intended future home, permanent headquarters and official National Training Center for USA Pickleball,” Justin Maloof, chief operating officer for the organization, said.

The group says Arizona currently has more than 1,600 courts. Pickleball combines tennis, badminton and table tennis.
