Tolleson Union High School District Governing Board President Devin Del Palacio speaks at a Feb. 18, 2021, event in opposition to a bill that would expand school vouchers.

Devin Del Palacio, the executive director of the Arizona School Board Association (ASBA) has announced his resignation. He had been facing allegations of lying about his experience on his resume.

Del Palacio was named executive director in June. His last day is set for Dec. 15. A statement sent to all members on behalf of the Board of Directors said a mutual agreement had been reached.

The board expressed its appreciation of Del Palacio’s work and made no mention of the reports that he lied about having a bachelor's degree.

The organization fired its director of legal and policy services in August after he ordered an independent investigation into Del Palacio.

ASBA’s director of communications told KJZZ that the Board of Directors will be meeting in the next few weeks to name an interim executive director.
