This week marks the 82nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and a remembrance ceremony will be held this weekend at the state Capitol.

The ceremony will take place Saturday, although the actual anniversary was Dec. 7. Paula Pedene with Honoring America’s Veterans said this is meant to raise engagement and awareness.

Pedene also said Ed Miklavcic, one of the few remaining Pearl Harbor survivors, will be in attendance.

“So if people want to see a living, breathing Pearl Harbor veteran if they haven’t had a chance to do that, this is their opportunity to do that and to talk to Ed,” she said.

Pedene said her group is partnering with American Legion Post 138.

“And they’re going to do what’s called a 'Run to the Guns' where they’re actually going to take their bike rides from their post at 10:55 am to the Wesley Bolin Plaza and get there right before noon,” she said.
