2024 Presidential Preference Election in Arizona: Who can vote, who made the ballot
Sixteen candidates have qualified to appear on the ballot in Arizona’s Presidential Preference Election in March, headlined by President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
A total of nine Republican and seven Democratic candidates met a 5 p.m. deadline on Monday to qualify for the March 19 election, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.

The Presidential Preference Election, or PPE, is unique from traditional primary elections. Only voters who are members of a participating political party can choose their preferred presidential candidate, and only the Democratic and Republican parties are participating in the election.
That means independent voters cannot cast ballots in March.
Voters must be registered as either a Democrat or Republican by Feb. 20 to participate in the PPE.
However, independents can request a ballot from the party of their choosing for the Aug. 6 primary election.
