President Buu Nygren speaks at first-ever People’s State of the Navajo Nation

Today marks a year since Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren took office. In Window Rock, the president of Indian Country’s largest reservation addressed his Diné constituents at the first-ever People’s State of the Navajo Nation on Tuesday.
Twenty executive branch division directors provided updates from the 2023 calendar year to hundreds in attendance and on Facebook Live while Nygren touted his administration’s accomplishments on the stage at Nakai Hall in the Nation’s capital.
“I recall the words I spoke on January 10, 2023,” said Nygren. “Faithfully execute the office of the president and do so to the best of my ability to preserve, protect, defend the laws of the government of the Navajo Nation and to advance the interests of the Navajo people.”
His speech touched on affordable housing, economic development, climate change and capital infrastructure projects, including energy and water.
“I wasn’t able to cover it all, but thank you for being here today,” added Nygren. “God bless the Navajo people, and God bless our great Navajo Nation.”
