The University of Arizona will not be cutting any sports spending as it tries to recover from a $240 million shortfall.

In an update on Thursday, UA athletics director Dave Heeke outlined the department's plans to make up for revenue gaps following the pandemic.

The school’s financial difficulties come as it prepares to move from the PAC-12 to the Big-12 in the next academic year.

UA athletics’ plan includes a continuation of the hiring freeze implemented in the fall, and a pause on all major construction projects once a new golf center is complete.

It will also look at raising revenue through media rights, changes in ticket pricing and outreach.
