Sedona will now manage its own tourism plan, residents can comment at Jan. 22 meeting
The city of Sedona has been battling over housing costs, how to manage a population of workers who can no longer afford to live there, and now the fate of its tourism industry.
The city government is hosting a listening session Monday at a public library in Sedona. City staff and consultants will be on hand to hear from residents and are expected to use the input to help shape what the city calls Sedona’s Tourism Strategic Plan.
It’s also hiring a tourism manager position at about $120,000 a year. These moves come after the local chamber of commerce last year opted to end its contract with Sedona, which now has taken on the role of managing tourism for itself.
