The National Weather Service in Phoenix issued a fog advisory early Monday, and fog continued to blanket parts of the Valley into the morning.

The hazy weather follows rain on Sunday for much of the metro area, and more is expected as the workweek begins.

The National Weather Service forecasts a strong chance of showers through at least Monday evening.

Alex Young is a meteorologist with the agency based in Phoenix and indicates heavier precipitation will follow.

“Looks like we’re going to have another system that’s gonna move through. It’s gonna result in a more significant amount of rain generally from about a half an inch to an inch across the metro with that," he said.

Drier weather is forecast to begin on Wednesday.
