The GCU men’s basketball team punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament on Saturday in Las Vegas, beating UT-Arlington 89 to 74 to win the WAC championship.

Despite a dominant regular season, coach Bryce Drew says there’s nothing easy about tournament play.

"Championships are so hard to win. Doesn’t matter how many teams are in the tournament. Doesn’t matter what league you’re in. Doesn’t matter where you play it. What time of day. So hard to win championships," Drew said.

It’s the third WAC tournament title in four seasons under Drew. But the first one for leading scorer Tyon Grant-Foster.

"For me, that was my first time, so it was amazing … It was surreal, that was my very first time with the confetti and the nets and everything, so it was one of the best moments of my life," Grant-Foster said.

The Antelopes improved to 29 and 4, and will take on Saint Mary’s in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday.
