Wind up to 50 miles an hour possible on Saturday in metro Phoenix

The National Weather Service in Phoenix issued a wind advisory for Saturday, March 30, with the potential for gusts of 40 to 50 miles per hour.

But NWS meteorologist Alex Young says this does not necessarily mean dust storms.

"So what’s really going to happen here is we’ll probably just have widespread blowing dust with some localized areas of reduced visibilities," Young said. "But given the trajectory of the winds, probably the worst conditions are going to stay in the northwest Pinal County, as opposed to in the direct Phoenix metro area."

The forecast calls for cooler temperatures and widespread rain across the Valley going into Sunday, as well as chances of thunderstorms from Sunday to Monday.
