A measure waiting for a vote in the House of Representatives would turn school board elections into partisan ones.

Republican Sen. Justine Wadsack introduced the bill and says that a candidate’s party affiliation would give voters an idea of their beliefs.

Members of the Arizona School Boards Association have criticized it. Here’s member Chris King.

"When you're representing kids, your party doesn't matter because you're representing all kids. And if you can't step into a school board room and put your partisan politics behind you, then you really don't deserve to be there in the first place," King said.

The bill has already passed the state Senate.
