Artists gather at Danelle Plaza as the Tempe landmark's future remains uncertain

The future of Danelle Plaza has been unknown for some time.
The 1960s-era Tempe shopping center on the southwest corner of Mill and Southern avenues once housed businesses, retail spaces and even a skate park. Now, it’s mostly empty, with the notable exception of Yucca Tap Room — one of Tempe’s oldest and most popular live music spaces.
Earlier this year development company Desert Viking began coordinating redevelopment efforts that may include affordable housing and space for creatives.
On Thursday, a group of local artists are coming together at Danelle Plaza for a one-night show called "All In." The pop-up show is curated by Arizona artist and educator Matt Dickson, and it includes artists like Thomas “Breeze” Marcus, DJents, Tony Olvera and Kyllan Maney.
Rob Moore, who has coordinated art shows and other events in support of Danelle, said he hopes to demonstrate what could be done with the space.
The show is happening Thursday night from 6-10 p.m. at Yucca Tap Room.
