Nearly 40% of teens reported symptoms of moderate to severe depression last year, amidst the pandemic, but social media has been a key in helping them stay connected.

Those are among the findings of a new report from Common Sense Media, which also showed more than half of teens who had a COVID-19 case in their family reported symptoms of severe depression, with the percentage even higher among LGBTQ teens.

For more on the report's findings, The Show spoke with Ilana Lowery, Arizona director for Common Sense Media.
