Arizona ballots are still being counted. Here's why
Elections workers in Maricopa County have more than 400,000 ballots left to count, officials estimated Wednesday morning, meaning it could be days until final results are available for close statewide races.
That estimate includes roughly 275,000 mail-in ballots that were returned on Election Day. Far more voters waited until the last minute to return their ballots than in 2020, when there were roughly 170,000 “late early” ballots returned the day of the presidential election.
The county plans to release new batches of results at 7 p.m. each night until all votes are counted.

Maricopa County officials also now say that 17,000 in-person ballots were affected by a printing malfunction at nearly a quarter of polling places on Tuesday.
The issue didn’t prevent voters from filling out their ballot, but tabulation machines at some polling places were unable to count votes onsite as intended. Voters can check the status of their own ballot through the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office.
Arizona’s other 14 counties are also reporting their outstanding, uncounted ballots to the Secretary of State’s Office.

Last night, we took in over 275,000 early ballots dropped off yesterday, Election Day.
These are different from the approximately 230,000 people that the Board of Supervisors...
