Phoenix Seeks Feedback On Strategies To Address Homelessness

The city of Phoenix is looking for feedback on its plan to address homelessness. The unsheltered homeless population in Maricopa County nearly tripled in the last five years.
In June, the city drafted a plan for strategies to address homelessness. It includes short term emergency measures related to homelessness concerns amid the pandemic.
It also covers a broad range of long-term goals like amending city zoning codes to allow more housing options, creating incentives for landlords to accept housing vouchers, and expanding mental health outreach programs.
The city has two online surveys related to the plan available through Aug. 28. Four virtual community meetings are scheduled Aug.11, 12, 17 and 19.
