Arizona Supreme Court won't immediately take up Hamadeh election case
The Arizona Supreme Court has refused to take up former Attorney General candidate Abe Hamadeh’s request to immediately review his bid to overturn his election loss.
The Republican and his attorneys are now on the hook to pay legal fees, though the amount isn’t clear yet.
The Wednesday order from Chief Justice Robert Brutinel said his lawyers acted prematurely and lied.
Hamadeh’s request said the team diligently sought a final ruling from a Mohave County Superior Court judge.
But lawyers for Attorney General Kris Mayes and Secretary of State Adrian Fontes pointed out that was a false assertion.
Hamadeh and the Republican National Committee working on his behalf concede that point.
Brutinel said Hamadeh will have to go through the normal appeals process.
