Rain is on the way for metro Phoenix, according to forecasters. After a summer of record-breaking heat, things seem to be cooling down, at least for now.

Meteorologist Isaac Smith with the National Weather Service in Phoenix says thunderstorms are expected for Tuesday.

"We’re going to see those chances throughout the day. And we’ll even see those chances linger into tomorrow but we’ll start drying out heading throughout tomorrow and Thursday as well. So, after that we will see dryer conditions prevail," Smith said.

Smith said so far it has been the driest monsoon season on record, with Phoenix officially recording a fraction of an inch.
