The so-called “QAnon Shaman” who was convicted in the Jan. 6 insurrection wants to run for Congress.

Jacob Angeli-Chansley has filed a statement of interest to represent Arizona’s 8th Congressional District.

Angeli-Chansley is the only Libertarian candidate to signal an interest so far in replacing Republican Congresswoman Debbie Lesko.

He became a notorious face for the Jan. 6 attack after storming into the Capitol bare-chested in a fur headdress with horns. Angeli-Chansley was convicted of obstruction of an official proceeding in Nov. 2021 and sentenced to 41 months in prison.

Officials said good behavior accounted for his early release from federal custody in May.

Records show he filed a candidate statement of interest for the 8th Congressional District on Thursday. The West Valley district heavily favors Republican voters.
