A “fake elector” who tried to assert that former President Donald Trump won Arizona in 2020 says Democrats are trying to imprison him, but he’s honored for the role he played.

State Sen. Anthony Kern is one of 11 Arizonans who asserted themselves as electors and declared that Trump won following his loss to President Joe Biden.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes’ office is investigating the case.

Kern said at a press conference on Monday that Mayes and other Democrats want to send him to jail to attack Trump and keep them both out of office.

“Isn’t there something wrong when the rules of law gets applied discriminately in favor of only one political party, the Democratic party,” he said.

Subpoenas have been issued to fake electors in Arizona. In other states, the investigations of fake electors have resulted in indictments.

“I will never allow the Democrat party or machine to use me in their unhinged quest to get to President Trump,” Kern added.

Kern declined to answer questions from reporters.
