Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe is getting a new name.

On Wednesday, ASU announced it has secured a 15-year naming-rights deal with Utah-based Mountain America Credit Union. The facility will now be called Mountain America Stadium, Home of the ASU Sun Devils.

In a statement, ASU President Michael Crow called it “one of the most important naming rights deals in the history of college sports.”

The credit union already has its name on an ice rink inside ASU’s hockey arena, called The Mountain America Community Iceplex.

ASU’s senior associate athletic director Graham Rossini says he accepts the criticism over the newly named Mountain America Stadium.

“We appreciate the passion behind the issue and I think when people have opinions on change it just reinforces that people care about what we do. I just offer that we got 300-plus people in our athletic department that are working very hard every day to deliver terrific outcomes on the field," Rossini said.

Frank Kush Field within the stadium will keep its name.
