Preliminary election results are in for the boards and councils of the Salt River Project, the largest power and water provider to the Phoenix area.

This year’s election followed accusations of interference by the utility’s CEO.

Several self-described "clean energy" candidates had accused CEO Jim Pratt of trying to dissuade voters from  picking them, referring to an internal letter penned by Pratt that accused special interests of spreading misinformation about SRP.

Now, it appears at least four of the clean-energy candidates beat out incumbents to win district seats, including Nick Brown and Sandra Kennedy, who spoke out against the CEO. 

In a statement, an SRP spokesperson said Pratt’s communication to employees outlined the utility’s clean-energy achievements. 

Those newly elected will take office in early May.
